SABAK BERNAM, Dec 15 — Cleanups across Selangor are being stepped up to ensure improved cleanliness.

State executive councillor for local government and tourism Dato’ Ng Suee Lim said cleaning works will be carried out periodically by local authorities with assistance from KDEB Waste Management.

“The state government took into account feedback from His Royal Highness the Sultan of Selangor on cleanliness, especially in Klang. I will ensure local authorities and KDEB Waste Management perform better periodic cleanups.

“Residents must also play a role in looking after the environment, including by not littering everywhere. They must remember that unproblematic villages and beaches are more beautiful,” said Ng.

He was met after a Fam Trip in northern Selangor with media practitioners organised by his office and Tourism Selangor.

During the programme, Ng launched Funtasi Land in Pantai Redang, Sekinchan.

For the three-day programme, media practitioners are brought to the Sky Mirror, Kuala Selangor, Padi Gallery, Terminal Sekinchan, and to watch Sungai Panjang fireflies here.

Last week, Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj expressed his disappointment with how dirty Klang was.

His Royal Highness said that even with rapid development, there are still dirty areas, including rivers severely polluted with trash.

The ruler said there have been many complaints from the public, especially cruise passengers that visit the district through Port Klang, that say the scenery in Klang is disgusting due to the pollution.
