SHAH ALAM, Dec 16 — Almost 7,000 KDEB Waste Management (KDEBWM) staff are ready to assist post-flood operations in the event of flooding following the current Northeast Monsoon phenomenon.

Its managing director Datuk Ramli Tahir said the number involved employees from all departments, with the largest number involving more than 6,000 general workers and 550 arm roll or roll-on-roll-off (RORO) drivers.

“This is for public cleaning after the flood. The staff is always ready at any time according to the needs of the post-flood cleaning operation.

“All 550 ROROs have also been confirmed to be in good condition and can move to all affected areas operated by KDEBWM,” he told Selangorkini.

Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) Director General Muhammad Helmi Abdullah said the 2023/2024 monsoon season starts in November and continues until March next year.

In preparation, the State Government provided 10,000 basic aid packs consisting of dry food and daily necessities to take care of the welfare of all victims.

The administration also asked the fire brigade, the army and the Civil Defense Force to provide assets and ensure they are in good condition so that the rescue work goes smoothly.
