No more theft of natural resources, leakages under KSSB management — MB

SHAH ALAM, July 21 — The management of mining activities under state-owned Kumpulan Semesta Sdn Bhd (KSSB) has successfully addressed the issues of natural resource and mineral theft, as well as financial leakages.

Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said as a result, KSSB has become an inspiration to several states, which have emulated the firm’s management concept.

“After so many years, KSSB’s format is now being used in other states including Pahang,” he said when addressing KSSB staff during his visit to its Menara Bank Rakyat office here today.

Also present were KSSB chief executive officer and managing director Abdul Rahman Ishak, state deputy secretary (development) Datuk Johary Anuar and Selangor Public Works Department director Lokman Nasir.

Amirudin said while KSSB’s takeover of the state’s mineral resource management was not easy and met multiple challenges, the results are well worth the effort.

“It has opened up numerous job opportunities,” the MB said.

KSSB was established on June 26, 2008, with the initial aim of managing the exploration, extraction, production and sale of mineral resources in Selangor.

The business has since expanded by venturing into new industries and offering a variety of services, including consultation, digital innovation, trading, mining and mineral water development.

KSSB has won multiple international awards, including in the Best Practices in Sustainable Mineral Development (Non-Metallic Minerals Distribution) category at the 2nd Asean Mineral Awards in Bangkok, Thailand, in December 2019.
