KUALA LUMPUR, June 28 — The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) busted the activities of misappropriating subsidised liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) during a raid on licenced gas storage in Setapak on June 23.
The raid was carried out after four days of intelligence on the premises suspected of selling subsidised LPG to industry players, involving leakage of subsidy amounting to RM1 million.
Kuala Lumpur KPDN director Ariffin Samsudin said they arrested a man, in his 40s, who is also the owner of the warehouse, in the raid.
T"he suspect had a valid LPG retail licence. However, verification of the seized LPG supply documents revealed that he failed to record 345 transactions totalling RM1.7 million for the year 2023," he said at the launch of the Batu Parliamentary-level Jualan Rahmah Kasih Sayang in Sentul today.
Tthe case is being investigated under Section 21 of the Control of Supplies Act 1961, Regulation 13 (2) of the Control of Supply Regulations 1974 and Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001.
