SUBANG JAYA, June 14 — State foundation Yayasan Selangor has been instrumental in bridging the educational gap between rural and urban communities since its formation in 1970, according to Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said the agency has also produced quality human resources that would be able to succeed today's leadership as it moves forward.

"Among the earlier challenges Yayasan Selangor faced since its inception were to ensure equilibrium between urban and rural communities.

"Various initiatives were introduced, not only in terms of cash aid and scholarships, but also providing hostels, as part of a bid to identify potential students from urban areas to be trained to be more confident and capable."

Amirudin said this in his speech during the launching ceremony of the Selangor Education Strategic Plan (Selestari) 2023-2030 at Grand Dorsett Hotel, here, today.

Also present was Yayasan Selangor chief executive officer Eddie Ahmad Khodzali.

Last year, when tabling Budget 2023, Amirudin had announced that the Selangor State Education Standing Committee will be managing Yayasan Selangor beginning this year.

The move is meant to consolidate the potential and performance of state education management.

Amirudin explained that the foundation will act as the lead agency, besides ensuring regulatory elements are aligned with the state Economic Planning Unit.
