SHAH ALAM, March 30 — Universiti Selangor (Unisel) is looking to attract 3,500 new students to register this year, throughout its three recruitment sessions.

Its vice-president and deputy vice-chancellor Prof Hamdan Mohd Salleh said Unisel is seeking students for its diploma, bachelor, master, and doctorate programmes, to be admitted in the April, July and November sessions.

"Several majors are expected to be in high demand among students, including early childhood education (PAKK), teaching English as a second language (TESL), visual arts, and information technology (IT).

"One major which is expected to be challenging to enter is engineering, seeing as how Malaysia is not a creator country but a consumer country," he said.

Prof Hamdan added that some 700 new students have since registered for the April session.

He said most are students seeking to continue their studies from the diploma level to bachelor's degree in various majors which Unisel offers.

"Since the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia results have not yet been release, the number of registrations for diploma courses remains low, between 100 to 200 people," Prof Hamdan said.
