SEPANG, March 20 — The state government is confident that its target of installing six million light-emitting diode (LED) lamps in strata residences is achievable by 2025.

State executive councillor for housing Rodziah Ismail said doing so can help to save some 10 million trees from being cut down, as well as help to reduce carbon emissions.

"Our effort is crucial, as we want future generations to enjoy life as we do today, in modern conditions and preserving the environment.

"Simultaneously we also contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the carbon issue, as we save the Earth by not cutting the trees down," she told SelangorKini.

Rodziah was speaking at the inauguration of the Green Technology LED Lighting Programme at Pangsapuri Seroja in Taman Putra Perdana, Puchong yesterday.

The councillor added that with a more organised action plan and support from the Joint Management Body (JMB) and the Management Corporation (MC) of the strata homes, the six million target can be accomplished.

"With everybody playing their part, I can only hope that when the programme is announced, the target will be achieved faster," she said.

On October 14 last year, Rodziah said the Green Building initiative implemented by the state government, in collaboration with Synergy Group, will prepare a RM400 million allocation and is expected to benefit residents in 6,000 strata residence buildings across the state.

She said the facility will contribute to green initiatives, energy saving, and is durable.
