SHAH ALAM, Dec 26 — The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) did not trace any price hikes on controlled goods under the Christmas Festive Season Maximum Price Control Scheme (SHMPP).

Its media unit informed that the report was based on investigations by their enforcement officers at several premises around Kuala Kubu Bharu, Sepang, Kuala Selangor, Kajang and Petaling Jaya.

“No price hikes were traced and traders are reminded to always practice good business ethics.

“Stern actions will be taken should any traders fail to adhere to the law,” the agency said on Facebook, yesterday.

Meanwhile, the Selangor KPDN informed that the Christmas SHMMP checks have been conducted concurrently with the ATM Ops (Chicken, Eggs and Cooking oil).

“Through our monitoring, we found that chicken, eggs and cooking oils are available at the premises involved with the investigation. The supply is still sufficient to cater to consumers’ demand,” it said.

The Christmas SHMMP began from December 23 to 27.

The items were live old chicken (controlled in Sarawak only), chicken wings (controlled in Sarawak, Sabah and Labuan), imported mutton, tomatoes, green capsicum and round cabbage (imported from China and Indonesia).

Other items were carrots, potatoes (imported from China), live pigs (controlled in Sarawak, Sabah and Labuan), pork belly, pork meat and fat (controlled in Sarawak, Sabah and Labuan).
