Over RM2.23 mln to date collected for flood victims, restoration

SHAH ALAM, Dec 27 — Some RM2.23 million has been collected thus far by the Ikhtiar Selangor Bangkit Fund store areas in the state affected by the recent floodings.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the contributions include those from individuals, companies, as well as the Kedah and Kelantan state governments.

"Selangor thanks all contributors for their generosity. The contributions would be handed to each family and individuals who need it in Selangor, particularly those affected by the flood. God willing, every sen would be used as best as possible for the victims," he said.

Amirudin's remarks came after launching the fund at the foyer of the Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Building earlier today.

He added contributions are still welcome and will remain open until the flood management in Selangor has been resolved.

Individuals or companies who wish to donate can do so via online transfers to the CIMB Bank account 8604-747-531 (Bendahari Negeri Selangor, Ref: Tabung Ikhtiar).

The state government launched the fund on December 18, aimed at restoring affected areas in Selangor.

Amirudin kickstarted the fund by contributing a month of his salary to aid the flood victims.
