SHAH ALAM, Jan 16 — After a resounding success this year, Visit Selangor Year (VSY) is continuing into 2026 to support the Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) tourism campaign, said Tourism Selangor.
In a statement, the agency said the renewed VSY campaign would strengthen the state’s role as one of Malaysia’s key tourism gateways and contributors to the national tourism agenda.
As of September last year, VSY had fulfilled 80 per cent of its aim to draw eight million visitors to Selangor. Building on this strong momentum, Tourism Selangor has extended the campaign to target nine million tourists this year and ensure continuity as Malaysia enters its biggest tourism push ahead of VM2026.

Tourism Selangor chief executive officer Chua Yee Ling, in a statement, said that instead of slowing down, VSY will move forward with renewed energy.
“The extension of (VSY) allows us to support (VM2026) while continuing to introduce fresh experiences, stronger collaborations and more reasons for visitors to keep coming back,” she said.
Tourism Selangor said that almost every week this year, there will be over 90 tourism-driven events, spanning food, culture, lifestyle, creative industries, agrotourism and community-based experiences, to ensure there is constant activity statewide for both domestic and foreign travellers.
Among the highlights for 2026 are the Selangor Travel Fair, Selangor Food Mega Festival, Selangor Coffee Festival, Selangor Paddy Field Festival, and more. Event listings and updates will be available on Tourism Selangor’s official platforms, the agency said in the statement.
“Community-based tourism will remain a key pillar of Selangor’s strategy. Following the appointment of 49 Selangor Community Hosts in 2025, the programme is set to expand further in 2026, empowering local communities to become storytellers, guides and ambassadors for their own destinations.”
“The initiative aims to highlight authentic local experiences from village life and traditional food to heritage sites and nature-based attractions, while ensuring tourism benefits are shared directly with local communities,” Chua said.
Tourism Selangor, meanwhile, said the state continues to play a strategic role in welcoming visitors to Malaysia, with its mix of urban attractions, nature escapes, cultural diversity and easy connectivity that offers travellers complete experiences.
