SHAH ALAM, Nov 7 — The Selangor government has declared its support for the Education Ministry’s (MOE) co-teaching method, which involves two teachers to a class, to improve learning efficiency and shrink educators’ burden.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari expressed hope that the approach can first be tested to evaluate its impact on teachers and students.
“I hope it can help teachers manage and face certain cases in schools.
“I believe we face various challenges including infrastructure issues and other aspects that require new approaches,” said Amirudin, who also heads the state education portfolio.
He was speaking to reporters after launching the free Kita Selangor ambulance at the State Secretariat Building here today.
However, Amirudin said, the state has not received official notice on the implementation of co-teaching.
“I haven’t been given feedback, but I believe the MOE is looking at all possibilities to ensure school-related issues can be well managed,” he added.
Earlier, Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said co-teaching will be introduced to make teaching and learning more interesting and effective as it allows teachers space to be more creative and interactive in lessons.
She said the approach is among reforms in the new curriculum to implement integrated learning — the combined teaching of various knowledge disciplines.
