JAKARTA, Sept 8 — Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto carried out a Cabinet reshuffle today involving five key ministries, including the Finance Ministry and the Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Coordinating Ministry.
The changes also covered the Protection of Migrant Workers Ministry, the Cooperatives Ministry, and the Youth and Sports Ministry.
The reshuffle saw the Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation's (LPS) commissioners board chairman Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa appointed as Finance Minister, replacing Sri Mulyani Indrawati.
Mukhtarudin was named the new Protection of Migrant Workers Minister, succeeding Abdul Kadir Karding, while Ferry Juliantono replaced Budi Arie Setiadi at the Cooperatives Ministry.
Prabowo also named Mochamad Irfan Yusuf as the first minister to lead the newly established Hajj and Umrah Ministry, with Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak as his deputy.
The swearing-in ceremony took place before Prabowo at the Presidential Palace in Central Jakarta and was broadcast live on national television channels and official social media platforms.
State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said that Prabowo has yet to name a new Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs, following Budi Gunawan’s removal, and will, in the meantime, appoint an interim official to be announced soon.
He noted that a replacement for Youth and Sports Minister Dito Ariotedjo has not yet been appointed, as he is currently out of the city.
“Based on the various inputs and continuous evaluations carried out by the President, this afternoon, he decided to implement changes to the composition of the Red and White Cabinet.
“It is hoped that this decision will bring good to the nation, the state and the people,” Prasetyo said in a statement.
