SHAH ALAM, Aug 1 — Selangor has been committed to assisting its residents by implementing various educational initiatives since 2018, according to Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI.
Its corporate social responsibility and corporate communications head Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said there is ample opportunity to succeed with support from the education sector.
"Even if a child was not born in Selangor but has resided here for at least five years, then he or she is eligible to receive specific educational programmes.
"Generally speaking, the important thing is their parents must be residents or at least work in Selangor," he said during an interview on Astro Awani Pagi yesterday, discussing the Selangor Education Development Initiative.

Ahmad Azri added Selangor's residents are quite fortunate, as its Menteri Besar wields the state's education portfolio.
"This is not the case with other states. Only Selangor' Menteri Besar had the courage also to hold its education portfolio," he said.
The state's education committee includes MBI, Yayasan Selangor, the State Economic Planning Unit (Upen), and the Selangor Human Resource Management Division (Stanco).
Previously, Ahmad Azri said a significant portion of MBI's expenditure is allocated for state education development via the Iltizam Selangor Penyayang (ISP) initiative, with approximately RM20 million allocated since 2018.
Its programmes include the Selangor People's Tutoring Programme (PTRS), University Basic Fee Assistance, and awards to pursue higher education at institutes of higher learning.
